SOUTH HORIZONS CAMPUS

Overview

Welcome to Victoria (South Horizons) International Nursery / Victoria (South Horizons) International Kindergarten. Every day we have over 300 eager students coming into our school which is located in the Southern District of Hong Kong Island.

Our campus offers a Trilingual programme for 2 to 6 year olds from Pre-Nursery to Upper Class (K3), and a Bilingual programme starting from 3 to 6 years old from Nursery Class (K1) to Upper Class (K3). We provide an inquiry and literacy based curriculum; our teachers are trained annually in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) and the Columbia University Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project (TCRWP).

Our Mission

To be a positive and open-minded community, where children can become caring and respectful inquirers, who will develop into internationally minded lifelong learners.

SOUTH HORIZONS CAMPUS - 5 FEATURES

Surrounding Natural Views

A beautiful sea view that inspires teachers and students alike

As you walk down the steps to our kindergarten, you will be welcomed by ships sailing by. The beautiful sea view presents a warm and inviting environment for children and teachers alike. From many of the different classroom windows, you can glimpse the clear blue sea. Sometimes you can even hear the honking of ships passing by. Being surrounded by nature and gardens offers the children a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Spacious Learning Areas

An environment where creativity and curiosity abound

From the moment you walk into the lobby of our campus, you see two corridors that lead the kindergarten into different engaging learning areas intended to promote creativity and curiosity. When you look in on our classrooms, you see an aesthetically pleasing environment that encourages children to explore various learning centres related to their current units of inquiry. The spacious learning areas allow children to move around with ease, engage in interactive lessons, and also allow enough space for quiet activities, small group activities, and individualised learning.

Immersed in the local community

A community of learners helping each other

Not only are children able to learn from the internal school community, they are also able to learn from the close-knit extended community of South Horizons. Our neighborhood allows children to enjoy real-life experiences that build on the classroom learning, and improve students’ essential literacy, research and problem solving skills. There are many opportunities for parents to join class activities and field trips to promote a collaboration between home and school, as many of our students and their families also live in South Horizons. We believe that our learning community not only consists of the school, but also the community, in providing a first-class education.

Easily Accessible

A variety of transport getting you to us

Located conveniently in the Southern District, there is an abundance of transportation to choose from that gets you to our campus. There are many buses to and from Central, Causeway Bay, and even Pok Fu Lam. With the new South Island Line of the MTR it is even quicker to get to South Horizons from Admiralty. Whether you take the bus or train, when you cross over the Ap Lei Chau Bridge, you will get a glimpse of the incredible view that is the South Island.

Well-balanced curriculum

A transdisciplinary approach to learning

We strive to deliver a balanced curriculum with hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Our campus has been an authorised IB World School since April 2015, and we have been a partner school of Columbia University’s Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project since September of the same year. These programmes allow the children to become inquirers and take ownership of their learning, as well as develop their thinking skills to apply strategies that will build their confidence as learners.
