About the guest speaker:
Dr Angel Lai is a developmental psychologist and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Social Sciences at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. As a developmental psychologist and social work researcher, Dr Lai is interested in identifying ways to improve young people’s positive development, such as positive mental health, self-efficacy, motivation, empathetic thinking via the mobilisation of community/school resources and coproduction strategy. She has almost two decades of experience working with children and youth of multiple ethnicities in global settings, including the U.S., Hong Kong, and Rural China. She believes in empowering children to discover their own potential as a first step to establish a solid foundation of self-identity for positive adulthood outcomes.
