Learning Support Coordinator

The role of the Learning Support Coordinator is to support all campuses in assessing the learning and emotional needs of students the school has identified as requiring additional attention. He/she is also responsible for communicating with school staff and parents and suggesting support measures suitable for the students concerned.




Responsibilities

  • Assess the learning and emotional needs of children by observing and consulting with relevant bodies to advise on the best approaches and provisions to support the target children’s learning and development;
  • Collaborate with school staff and parents to determine appropriate actions that will benefit the identified children;
  • Provide advice and guidance to school staff and parents;
  • Support teachers in creating a learning environment where diversity is celebrated and children respect one another;
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all children with support needs, and compile reports as requested;
  • Compile reports to make recommendations on action to be taken;
  • Manage existing systems and databases for child data and behavioural management;
  • Advise and support teachers, parents, and other education professionals;
  • Attend meetings on how best to meet the learning needs of the children;
  • Work in liaison with teaching staff to ensure that an effective learning programme is in place for a caseload of children with additional needs;
  • Develop and review guidelines relating to supporting children with diverse learning needs;
  • Report directly to the Head of Curriculum Development;
  • Communicate with parents and staff regarding the learning support programme on key matters, including presentation of services and individual services;
  • Participate in the interviewing process;
  • Undertake other relevant duties.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (or above) in Special Education Needs, Psychology, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Counselling and Guidance, or any related discipline;
  • Familiar with the development of children below the age of six (having qualifications and teaching experience relating to early years education will be an advantage);
  • Relevant qualifications and experience relating to working with children with special educational needs (SEN);
  • Experience in communicating with kindergarten children's parents/caregivers (including those with SEN children);
  • Good communication in Cantonese, English and Putonghua;
  • With at least 2 years of relevant experience; interacting with children in the early years setting;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) as well as English and Chinese typing are essential;
  • Able to multitask and work under pressure.
