School year 2006/07 is an exciting and gratifying one for VSA. Just one year after the authorization of our Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in December 2005, our Middle Years Programme (MYP) was authorized in the same month in 2006. The authorization of our Diploma Programme (DP) in May 2007 turned our school into the first through-train IB World School in Hong Kong for children from primary (or even younger when we count the IB authorized Kindergarten in our sister Victoria Educational Organization) to secondary graduation, ready for prestigious universities in Hong Kong as well as overseas.
VSA adopts the IB programs because of its mission that we share: "to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right." The power of analysis and judgment, the ability for self-learning, the creativity and teamwork promoted in the IB programmes prepare our young people for a life of self-fulfillment and service to the community.
In the meantime, the flexibility of the IB programmes allows us to take full advantage of Hong Kong being a unique meeting point of the East and West. Globalization has posed new opportunities and challenges to our young people in creating a world that will benefit all. An education oriented towards inter-cultural understanding is a first step in such a pursuit. As our curriculum and school activities show, VSA draws upon heritage and innovations worldwide and in particular from China and Hong Kong for students to gain the best from both worlds. To this multi-cultural community at VSA, our highly qualified international staff has made a very valuable contribution.
Besides providing information on our academic programmes, this website hopes to show you different aspects of our school life. VSA believes that young people should grow up in a caring environment where learning is a joy. It is from such devoted support that a heart to serve others grows. |
