South Horizons Campus
2017-2018 Literacy Celebration Month (SH)
As "World Book and Copyright Day" is celebrated in April, the boys and girls at South Horizons also had their own celebration as well. It was delightful to see parents joining in on our "Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) Moment", where they were storytellers as the children eagerly listened.
Over the announcements, the children were able to promote the IB Learner Profiles of "Communicators" and "Risk-takers" as they shared poems related to units of inquiry for everyone to hear. In line with "Sharing the planet", we hosted a Book Exchange where the children recycled a previously loved book of theirs, and exchanged it with a school friend.
At home, the children implemented skills and strategies learnt during Columbia University's Teachers College Reading and Writing Project and wrote creative stories that they shared with their classmates at school.
