PTA School Based Activity - Parent-Child Drama Activity

Parents always work closely with the school in order to foster their children’s growth. On 17th & 19th January 2012, the Belcher campus organized a parent-child drama activity with the Parents Teacher Association. This activity was sponsored by Central and Western District Council Culture, Leisure and Social Affairs Committee. The aim of this activity was to encourage communication between parents and child, in order to create a harmonious atmosphere in the society.

Chinese New Year Market

To celebrate "Chinese New year", we held a "Chinese New Year Market" on 18th January 2012 (Wednesday). Our K3 students performed a dragon dance at the beginning of the activity. The students enjoyed themselves very much. In order to encourage our students to be responsible, each of the K2 & K3 students had to take care of one PN / K1 student in this mixed-age activity. They enjoyed shopping in this exciting market.

Visit to the St. Barnabas’s Society and Home

When everyone joins in the jubilation, our K2 student representatives would like to send their love and concern to those in need. In the spirit of the occasion, our school organised a food drive to aid those less fortunate ones. We had a “With Thanks…” bin set up in the school where PN to K2 students made their donations. The food was delivered to St. Barnabas’ Society and Home (www.sbsh.org.hk) on 13th December. We hope children know the importance of taking actions and helping others after joining this activity.

Box of Hope

Once again it is coming to that festive time of year, when children begin to get excited at the prospect of a present from Santa Clause. There are many children who have never received a gift from anyone. So we asked our children to take action and rectify this by putting together a box of gifts to be delivered to less fortunate children in Asia. We participated in the "Box of Hope" activity. Teachers and Students at Belcher campus took action to hold a Origami Campaign

On 31st March, Victoria (Belcher) Kindergarten held a Origami Campaign to support the victims of the Japanese earthquake – children and teachers took action and made origami models. The children and the parents chose one or more of these models to take home for a donation. With the support of the parents, students and all staff, we collected HK$22,653.50 from the Origami Campaign. The school has forwarded all donations to the fund raising campaign of Hong Kong Red Cross “Japan Earthquake 2011”. We feel that this is a very caring attitude grasping how actions can support globally.

Alumni's parents sharing and children puppet show

On 1 Apr 2011, the Belcher campus organized an activity called "Alumni's parents sharing and children puppet show" with the Parents Teacher Association. About 70 parents and 51 students participated in this activity. We invited 16 alumni's parents to share their experiences in choosing a primary school and educating children. Students enjoyed the puppet show at the same time. The activity was very successful and all of them had a really meaningful night. The participating parents were grateful for the sincere sharing of alumni's parents as they learnt a lot from the sharing.
